UPDATE: Pedestrian killed in collision on Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge

A pedestrian was killed in a collision on Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge on Thursday morning (April 23).

According to a statement from Maple Ridge RCMP, the man was struck by a vehicle while trying to corral his dogs at the 26000 block of Lougheed Highway at approximately 5:45 a.m. Police say the man succumbed to his injuries, despite life saving measures.

ICARS and Maple Ridge RCMP remain on the scene to investigate.

The collision has closed Lougheed Highway between between 240 Street and 272 Street until further notice.

Police advise drivers to seek alternative routes.
