Charges laid against B.C. pair in decade-old homicide of Summerland man

Two people have been charged in connection to a 10-year-old homicide of a Summerland man.

Heather Dawn White, 33, of Kamloops and Cal Douglas Little, 60, of Abbotsford were arrested on April 17 and are now facing charges of first-degree murder for the death of Tura McCarty.

The 22-year-old Summerland man was found dead in the driver’s seat of his 1999 Jeep Cherokee on Jan. 6, 2016 on Bear Creek Road in West Kelowna.

“The securing of charge approval was the culmination of more than a decade of tireless efforts involving investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit, the West Kelowna RCMP, BC RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Support Services, RCMP Forensic Lab and Digital Forensic Services,” said Inspector Brent Novakoski, Southeast District Senior Investigating Officer.

Police believe McCarty was targeted and the murder to be an isolated incident.

White and Little have been detained. The pair is scheduled to appear in court on May 14.
