Train derailment north of Lytton

A Canadian Pacific train carrying coal derailed north of Nicomen on Saturday (April 18).

There were no reported injuries, fires, leaks or spills from the incident said a spokesperson for CN Rail.

Tricia Thorpe, electoral director of the area, said it appeared all of the train cars remained upright.

She added that the derailment occurred on the tracks across the Thompson River, so there is no impact to the highway.

CN Rail is investigating the cause of the derailment.
