Robert (Bob) Riddell

It is with sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Riddell announces the passing of a beloved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. Bob was born on June 8, 1949 in Eastend Saskatchewan.

He was raised in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan where he excelled in all sports but especially hockey. A visit from the Notre Dame Hounds hockey team changed the course of his life. After impressing them during a local hockey game, Bob was invited to join their hockey tour. The following September Bob moved to Wilcox Saskatchewan and became a ‘Hound’, where he finished high school and completed his Bachelor of Arts.

Bob went on to join the RCMP in 1972. His distinguished career included postings in Colwood 1973-1974, Duncan 1974-1985, Coquitlam 1985-1989, Staffing 1989-1995, Maple Ridge 1995-2003, Coquitlam 2003-2006 where he retired. Even in retirement he remained active as he continued to do applicant interviews for the RCMP and enjoyed his many years as a marshal at Meadow Gardens Golf Course. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, travelling the world and spending winters in Palm Springs, California.

Bob was predeceased by parents Ed and Margaret (Bock) Riddell, half sister Dawn Mackenzie, half brother Billy Mackenzie and 2 nephews. He is lovingly remembered by his wife and high school sweetheart Beth (Mackinnon), twin daughters Bree Mireau, Erin (Rob) Clement and son K.R.J. (Jessica) Riddell. Grandchildren Nate and Maëlle Mireau, Hudson, Josie and Aurelia Clement, twin brother Jack Riddell, sister-in-law Eleanor Sen, many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Bob will be deeply missed and remembered for his wit, quiet strength and love of his family. At Bob’s request there will be no service. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
