Wildfire off Highway 5A east of Merritt grows to 150 hectares

UPDATE:

The wildfire that sparked on Wednesday afternoon near Merritt has grown to 150 hectares.

BC Wildfire is reporting that the blaze is spreading or is anticipated to spread beyond the current perimeter or control line.

The fire is considered to be human-caused and is in the Quilchena Creek, within the Lower Nicola Indian Band.

BC Wildfire has a new update for the size of a wildfire on Hamilton Hill (Quilchena Creek) near Merritt.

The wildfire on Hamilton Creek Indian Reserve No. 7 in the Lower Nicola Indian Band is now marked as 50-hectares according to BC Wildfire.

In a social media post, Lower Nicola Indian Band said it is aware of the fire.

A 100-hectare wildfire has been reported near Merritt.

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is reporting that an out-of-control wildfire in the Hamilton Creek Indian Reserve No. 7, in the Lower Nicola Indian Band, east of Merritt.
