Two new members of Maple Ridge Fire Rescue have now gone to Clinton to relieve other members providing wildfire support in the B.C. interior.
In an online post the department said the two crew members returned back to Maple Ridge on Monday, July 27, after a week of helping communities impacted by the Big Bar Complex wildfire – multiple fires that the BC Wildfire Service has combined together in name.
On July 17, a crew of four from the Maple Ridge fire department were deployed to help out with the Signal Hill wildfire by Pemberton.
Luckily fire conditions in the area improved and they were sent back to Maple Ridge within 24 hours.
Then the request came for the Big Bar Complex wildfire that includes: the French Bar Creek fire; the Bonanza Creek fire; and the Pear Lake fire – located west and south of Clinton, B.C.
Cptn. Steve Franklin, and firefighter Noah Redfern were assigned to help out on July 21.
Two new members have since replaced them and arrived in Clinton to continue supporting the wildfire operations.
“We are proud of their commitment and willingness to step up wherever they are needed. Our members continue to answer the call beyond our community, helping protect and support British Columbians when they need it most,” said the fire department online.
