2 Vancouver Canucks prospects named to Hockey Canada’s World Junior showcase

A couple Vancouver Canucks top prospects have started their journey to potentially play for Canada at the 2027 World Junior Hockey Championships.

On Friday, July 24, Hockey Canada announced the 32 players that will attend its World Junior Summer Showcase from July 26-Aug. 1.

Included on the roster is two of the Vancouver Canucks top prospects in Braeden Cootes and Caleb Malholtra.

Cootes, who was selected in the first round, 15th overall, by the Canucks in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, played for Canada at the 2026 World Juniors, collecting four points in seven games to help the team win the bronze medal.

Malhotra is one of the newest Canucks after the team selected him third overall in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.

The team will practice on July 27 and 28 before playing exhibitions games against Sweden on July 29, Finland on July 30 and the United States on Aug. 1.
