Police say they are working closely with the BC Coroners Service and other support units as they investigate the death of a woman on Monday, July 20.
At around 7:30 a.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of the deceased individual outside of a residence in the 11800 block of 207 Street in Hammond.
The deceased person is believed to be that of a 55-year-old woman of no fixed address.
Cause of death is currently unknown.
However, part of the police investigation is to see whether there was any possibly criminality in this matter.
The house was behind police tape as of 10:30 a.m., as investigators took pictures of the front yard, and a canopy was placed over a white tarp on the ground.
Two people were escorted from the property, who didn’t appear to be involved in the incident.
About four police vehicles were parked along 207 Street in front of the property, and at least seven officers were on site.
The front door to the residence was also taped off.
Police say there is no risk to the public.
