A golfer from Maple Ridge placed second in her division at a national junior tournament in Kelowna last week.
More than 90 junior golfers converged on the Okanagan Golf Club for the MJT Order of Merit Series hosted by the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour.
Kiarah Lemyre, 13, of Maple Ridge took second in the MJT girls U15 division, shooting a 79 on Thursday, and a 86 on Friday, for a total of 165, on the par 72 Bear Course at the golf club.
Ashley Jung, 12, of Burnaby took first, shooting 78 on Thursday, and 84 on Friday, for a total score of 162; and Tayla Olson, 13, of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, shot 100 on Thursday, and 102, for a total score of 202, to take third place in that division.
Players from six provinces took part in six divisions, and winners received custom crystal trophies, rangefinders courtesy of MJT partner VOVEX Golf, direct exemptions into the MJT National Tour Challenge in Ontario later this fall, and shortlist consideration for the Jack Newton International Junior Classic in Australia.
The next anticipated competition is the MJT Odium Brown Classic, a three-day Major which will be taking place at Hazelmere Golf Club in Surrey, from July 27-29.
