A man is currently in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In a release sent by the Surrey Police Service (SPS) states that an investigation is in process after a serious overnight collision occurred between a TransLink bus and a pedestrian.
On July 11 at approximately 9:41 p.m., SPS officers said they responded to a report from BCEHS of a seriously injured pedestrian lying on the road at the intersection of 128 Street and 96 Avenue in Surrey.
SPS says officers arrived on scene and located the pedestrian who was receiving emergency medical treatment from BCEHS paramedics.
The TransLink bus and driver were also located at the scene, says SPS.
SPS shares that the pedestrian, an adult man, is said to have been transported to hospital for treatment of critical and potentially life-threatening injuries.
SPS’s collision investigation unit has now been called in and has taken over the investigation.
The investigation is in its early stages, and it is said to be unknown what caused the collision between the vehicle and pedestrian.
This intersection, however, has been the location of a previous fatality this year which also involved a vehicle and pedestrian back on Feb. 13.
SPS says that parts of the intersection were closed for several hours overnight but now have reopened.
SPS is asking for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have any information, including dashcam footage, to please call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 26-72005 (SP).
