Driver nabbed going 100 kilometres over posted speed limit by Maple Ridge officers

Officers caught a driver going more than 100 kilometres over the posted speed limit while doing enforcement in known high-collision areas in Maple Ridge.

The driver was stopped after speeding past officers going 182 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

When Maple Ridge RCMP asked the driver why they were going so fast, the driver said they were involved in a road rage incident with another vehicle that didn’t let them past.

They said they became frustrated and then sped away.

RCMP noted, though, that no license plate or further description of the other vehicle was provided.

The driver was handed a violation ticket for excessive speeding and had their vehicle impounded for a minimum of seven days.

“Whatever your reasons for speeding, our officers have heard them all. We will continue to enforce and educate about the dangers of excessive speeding in our community and the all too real consequences that can result,” said the Maple Ridge RCMP.
