Maple Ridge school board vice chair not seeking re-election

Kim Dumore, trustee and the current vice chair of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School Board, will not be seeking re-election in October.

Dumore made the announcement on Friday, July 3, with a post online.

In it she said that serving the community for the past eight years was one of the greatest honours of her life.

“Throughout my time in office, my heart and my focus have always been with children and youth, especially making sure children are fed and that young people are safe,” said Dumore.

She noted that she is proud of the work she did as part of the school board including advancing school food programs like Feeding Futures, which ensured more children came to school ready to learn.

During her time, Dumore advocated for a Youth Safe House and, she noted she was pleased to have been part of a time when there was significant investment in schools – specifically the school replacement projects for Eric Langton Elementary and Pitt Meadows Secondary.

And, Dumore said, she was also proud of her advocacy for Naloxone access and overdose response in schools.

“Work that helped drive change not only in our community, but across the province.”

“Thank you for trusting me, challenging me, sharing your stories with me, and allowing me the privilege of serving this community for the past eight years,” said Dumore.

“It has truly been a pleasure to serve you.”
