Maple Ridge duo release new single

An alternative country duo based out of Maple Ridge have released a new song.

The single called “Snow in June” is the result of the creative collaboration between singer-songwriter Jennifer Carswell, who also performs on acoustic guitar, and keyboards, and Eddie Krajsek, who plays acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and percussion– who make up the band called Rivertown.

According to Spotify, their sound blends elements of country, pop, rock, and Canadiana.

Krajsek has been playing guitar since he was five-years-old, and has performed in numerous bands – most notably the Vancouver rock band 7% Distortion.

Carswell’s influences include roots, folk, country, and pop. She is an accomplished pianist and was inspired to pick up the guitar by the songwriting of Gordon Lightfoot and the country rock sounds of Blue Rodeo.

“Driving acoustic rhythm and soaring, melodic electric guitar lines, paired with a soft reedy vocal, painted with plaintive and melancholic edges, mixed with slick production, renders a sound that is uniquely their own,” read their description on the streaming platform. “The songwriting is earthy and real, verging on poetic at times, and ranges in mood from melancholic to pleasant and uplifting.”

“Snow in June” is the ninth single the duo have released since late 2020. The first one was called “On Top of the World”.

They are currently recording and releasing new material.
