Numerous police cruisers descended on a property in rural Maple Ridge on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, for a shots fired call.
The incident happened at approximately 3 p.m, at a property in the 13200 block of Neaves Road, at the corner of Old Dewdney Trunk Road.
Frontline Maple Ridge RCMP officers learned there had been an altercation between two occupants on the property. One of the occupants was transported to hospital for treatment for injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Police would not confirm that the injuries were caused by a firearm, or what kind of weapon was involved, and are still questioning witnesses.
Multiple people were taken into custody at the property, and the area cleared and secured, said police.
Investigators were seen questioning people at nearby Jerry Sulina Park.
They are still determining the exact circumstances, but believe this is an isolated incident involving parties known to police. Police say there is no risk to public safety.
This incident is also not believed to be related to gang activity or extortion, and the investigation is ongoing.
