Another maternity diversion to begin at hospital in Maple Ridge

A maternity diversion will, once again, be in place at Ridge Meadows Hospital.

Fraser Health Authority made the announcement Tuesday, June 16.

The diversion is set to begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, and run until 8 a.m. on Monday, June 22.

Fraser Health is advising women who are in labour or have a pregnancy concern to call the maternity unit first, at 604-463-4111, where staff will direct them to the appropriate hospital for care.

Online the health authority noted that maternity diversions are a last resort when physicians are unavailable to fill the gaps in the obstetrics/gynecology schedule.

Diversions, “support safe, uninterrupted care for our patients,” said Fraser Health online, also noting they are working hard to find solutions.

“Significant efforts continue as we work collaboratively with our physician groups at both sites to find short and long-term solutions, including appealing to locum physicians across the region and province,” they said.

At least 13 maternity diversions have occurred at Ridge Meadows Hospital, each lasting several days, since December of 2025.
