Barn fire under investigation in Maple Ridge

A barn fire in Maple Ridge shut down a stretch of Dewdney Trunk Road Tuesday evening.

Firefighters responded to the call just before 8:30 p.m. on June 16 in the 24400 block of Dewdney Trunk Road.

The road was closed in both directions, with traffic being detoured, as firefighters had to run a water supply line across the roadway.

Neighbour Tennille Hilliard said the fire was two doors down from her house, and she noted online, people are out.

“Fire seems to be out, the hard working firefighters will be there for a while ensure it’s out,” said Hilliard.

Kimberly de Boer said they were driving past the fire before Maple Ridge firefighters were on scene.

“The whole back yard was on fire and up to the house,” de Boer also commented online.

“No injuries have been reported, and all residents have been accounted for,” said a City of Maple Ridge alert, adding that the cause of the fire remains undetermined and is under investigation.
