Rock wall fundraiser for Search and Rescue in Maple Ridge

Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue will be holding a rock wall fundraiser at The Patch Brewery.

Team members are inviting the public to stop by, have a drink, and climb the rock wall.

The local Search and Rescue team was founded in 1969 following the search for a father and son who went missing in Golden Ears Provincial Park, then called Garibaldi Provincial Park, in June 1966.

Despite an intensive search, the pair were never found.

But, the search demonstrated the need for a permanent search group for the area.

“Many have joined throughout the years offering their skills, leadership and dedication. Some members on our team are still volunteering their time after 25, 30 and even 40 years,” said the agency online, noting they are 100 per cent volunteer and are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the entire year.

The rock wall is being donated for the event by The Rock Wall Climbing Gym.

The fundraiser starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, at The Patch Brewery, 12745 Laity St, Maple Ridge.
