Ridge Meadows medical community celebrated their annual community spirit event, raising thousands for local charities.
Physicians, specialists, nurse practitioners, medical office assistants, health care partners, and their families from across Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows raised $4,000 which they will be donating to charities and causes close to their hearts.
One of those charities is Bouquets for Baba, a flower-giving program for lonely and isolated seniors in the community, started by Treena Innes, chief executive officer of the Ridge Meadows Division of Family Practice.
Innes noted Bouquets for Baba will be receiving $1,000.
“Bouquets for Baba provide bouquets of flowers to seniors living in long-term care facilities, in hospice and in community who could benefit from a kind gesture and to show them they are not forgotten and the community cares, with flowers generously provided by community members and Maple Ridge Florist,” explained Innes.
“This contribution will help bring 35 bouquets to seniors in our community, offering a simple but meaningful gesture of kindness and connection,” she added.
The remaining funds will support the Maple Ridge Community Foundation, which helps fund local programs that matter to the community, including food security, youth mentorship, seniors’ services, education, and environmental initiatives.
The Medical Community Spirit Event, hosted by the Ridge Meadows Division of Family Practice is held to honour and remember local physicians who have passed on, while also bringing the medical community together outside of the clinical setting for a day of connection.
“It offers space to pause and recognize the meaningful contributions these physicians have made to patients, colleagues, and the broader community,” said Innes.
