How are ticket prices looking in Vancouver on FIFA World Cup Eve?

History will be made when Australia and Turkey square off at BC Place on Saturday (June 13) for the first-ever men’s World Cup game in Vancouver.

That same history will likely extend to the box office, with the most astronomical get-in prices in provincial sports history.

According to ticketdata.com, the average get-in price for the five scheduled matches in Vancouver sits at $543 USD. As of 7 p.m. on Friday, the cheapest available for ticket for Saturday was $426. However, just three hours later that figure leaped to $509. Ticket prices for the game have jumped 47 per cent over the past three days.

The secondary ticket market has some options available, with StubHub listing its cheapest single ticket at $432 CAD and TickPick at $375 USD. There are additional fees associated with the StubHub number.

Canada plays its first game at BC Place against Qatar on Thursday (June 18) and unsurprisingly those tickets are high. Ticketdata stated that the lowest price solo ticket on Friday night at 7 p.m. was $618 USD. Prices for the game have increased 11 per cent over the past three days.

TickPick has tickets for Canada’s game beginning at $491 USD, while StubHub has solo tickets starting at $573 CAD. FIFA also has a variety of luxury seats still available for Thursday, but they start at $3,575 per person and go up to $6,750 per person.

The most affordable game right now is New Zealand vs. Egypt, which is set for Sunday, June 21.

At around 7 p.m. on Friday night, ticketdata had a get-in price listed for $356 USD for that game, but that number has gone up eight per cent over the past three days.

StubHub has tickets starting at $360 CAD, while TickPick lists its cheapest available ticket at $300 USD.

The Round of 16 match on July 7 is currently the highest get-in price at $1,360 USD as of June 12. The Round of 32 game on July 2 is the second-highest with a current get-in price of $701 USD.

Believe it or not, ticketdata information reveals that Vancouver currently ranks as the third-most affordable host city. Only Kansas City and San Francisco has a lower average get-in price.

As of Friday night, Mexico City ($2,233) and Guadalajara ($1,599) are the highest, with Miami sitting in third place at $1,444. Dallas ranks fourth at $1,187 and New York City is fifth at $1,105. Toronto is sixth at $878 and Seattle is 12th at $725. However, keep in mind that it’s likely that average price will increase as dates draw closer for cities.

The most recent comparable event with remarkable ticket pricing was Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras Tour, which saw a reported average ticket price of $4,459 USD.
