Pitt Meadows RCMP engaging with community

Pitt Meadows RCMP have had a busy two months following the opening of the new facility mid-April.

Bylaws and the Pitt Meadows RCMP joined students at Davie Jones Elementary to play basketball on April 16.

“Being out in the local schools and connecting with students is a priority for us at the Pitt Meadows RCMP,” said Staff Sgt. Michelle Luca, detachment commander for the Pitt Meadows RCMP, of the event.

“We are committed to ongoing engagement with our youth and supporting healthy community activities,” she added.

On May 8, officers and staff took part in McHappy Day, supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities and local families.

Then they celebrated the official grand opening of the new RCMP building in Pitt Meadows on May 12.

On May 14, the Pitt Meadows RCMP joined the Maple Ridge RCMP in this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run, supporting Special Olympics athletes and programs.

This event brings together law enforcement and community members in a shared effort to promote inclusion and raise funds.

The Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Torch Run team is still in first place for their fundraising efforts.

On May 23, 2026, members of the Pitt Meadows RCMP, both police officers and municipal staff, attended and participated in the Cst. Rick O’Brien Joint Forces Jamboree.

Coming up in September, the Pitt Meadows RCMP is excited to announce that they have their first rider participating in Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast.

Cpl. Shawn Blakeway has been training to cycle the eight day tour along the coast to raise money for childhood cancer research and for support services through the Canadian Cancer Society.

Tour de Coast began their efforts last week with a ride on the Sea-to-Sky Highway.

This Saturday, June 6, Pitt Meadows RCMP will be at Pitt Meadows Day events throughout they day, including members from a number of specialized policing units.

And, on Tuesday, June 30, they will also be hosting their first official Coffee with a Cop from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Coffee Pitt, 12528 Harris Rd, Pitt Meadows.
