The cub that was found in Maple Ridge earlier this year is thriving at Critter Care Wildlife Society, and has been named Radar.
Radar was the first cub given to Critter Care this spring. They are a Langley-based, accredited facility that will raise him to adulthood, and release the bear back into nature.
Radar was orphaned, on his own, until he was eventually captured on April 15. The tiny, eight-pound male had been bawling for its mother. It was going onto people’s porches, and was seen following a person down the road. Residents in the neighbourhood – at Lougheed Highway and 116th Avenue – were concerned, and posting about the situation in social media.
The non-profit society found a benefactor for the cub – Unipharm Wholesale Drugs Limited got his naming rights after a $2,500 donation to name Critter Care’s first bear cub of the year.
