More than $9K raised for Cystic Fibrosis Canada at Pitt Meadows walk

Participants of the Pitt Meadows walk in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada not only reached their goal of $6,000, but they surpassed it by another 51 per cent.

Walkers for Make Cystic Fibrosis History on Sunday, May 31 – the national organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year – raised $9,035 as of Monday, June. 1.

Kelly Campbell, who was walking with her seven-year-old grandson Brantley, who has Cystic Fibrosis, said more than 50 people turned out for the local walk, that started and finished at the Pitt River Regional Greenway, at the south end of Harris Road at Fraser Way.

Participant Kelly Campbell noted online what a beautiful day it was for the walk.

“The sun was shining, the community came together, and there was an amazing turnout. It was wonderful to see so many people supporting such an important cause,” Campbell said.

Communities right across Canada took part in the walk with the Hamilton, Ontario walk raising $155,340, the most for an in-person event in the nation.

Team Peaches People raised $2,820, the most for the Pitt Meadows Team.

According to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, cystic fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults, and there is no cure.
