Sarah Nurse is back with the Vancouver Goldeneyes.
On Tuesday, June 2, the Goldeneyes re-signed Nurse to a two-year Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Standard Player Agreement through the 2027-28 season.
With the signing, Nurse is now one of the team’s three protected players as part of the upcoming PWHL Expansion Roster Distribution Process ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Nurse was one of Vancouver’s five inaugural players signed last June and was named an alternate captain.
On Nov. 21, she scored the first Goldeneyes goal in franchise history.
Despite missing some time due to injury, Nurse finished the season tied for the team-lead in goals with nine and 15 points in 19 games.
Over her PWHL career, Nurse has 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists) in 64 games.
The contract eases Vancouver hockey fans as it was speculated that Nurse might go to her hometown of Hamilton, Ont., which was rewarded a PWHL for the upcoming season.
Her signing occurred during Phase 1 of the roster distribution process where existing PWHL teams may protect three players under contract for the 2026-27 season. Like Nurse, players on expiring contracts can sign with any existing team during this phase and any signed player automatically counts as one of the existing team’s three protections. Teams have until Wednesday, June 3, at 2 p.m. Pacific time to finalize its list of three foundational signings and protections before the commencement of Phase 2: Expansion Team Foundational Signing Period.
