Victoria ride-share users are the 4th most forgetful in Canada, Kelowna 9th

Forgetful Victoria ride-share users hold strong in fourth position for a second consecutive year as the most forgetful folks in Canada.

The Capital Region riders finish behind Saskatoon, Windsor and Regina according to Uber’s 2026 Lost and Found Index.

The most commonly forgotten items for Victoria riders follow the national pattern — phones, wallets, keys — without quite reaching the creative heights of some other cities this year. No frozen turkeys, no humidifiers. Just a lot of misplaced essentials like backpacks or other luggage, headphones and speakers, keys, glasses and sunglasses, clothing, passport, vapes and cash.

Uber XL riders are also 2.6 times more likely to forget something than UberX riders — bigger groups, more chaos, more lost stuff.

Victoria bucks the trend for most forgetful day, which was Dec. 20. Nationally, Halloween tops the list with Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 both ranking in the top three for lost item volume nationally, alongside New Year’s Day. The most forgetful hour is Sunday at 1 a.m.

The top five items left behind are among the most common: phone; wallet, backpack or bag; keys; and headphones or speakers.

The most forgetful day is an apparently random one — July 12.

Canadians are an intriguing bunch, leaving some unusual stuff behind.

In Toronto, someone forgot a 15-lb frozen turkey, and in Brantford, 12 pizzas.

A Montreal driver was left with a violin in a hard case, and an Edmonton rider forgot their goalie pads, helmet and stick. Someone in Vancouver ditched a 25-pound kettlebell, for sure by accident.

A turtle shell in Toronto, blue wig in Montreal, aquarium and fish supplies in Toronto and a trophy with a golden star and the name ‘Adam’ on it in Kingston round out some of the more unusual items noted by Uber drivers.

The only other B.C. city to make the list of forgetful is Kelowna in ninth position.

Luckily, Uber has an answer for folks who leave stuff behind with a help page that outlines the steps. The business is also piloting a new feature in some U.S. cities to use Uber Courier to request a trip to return lost items that could roll this out in Canada later this year.
