Police descended upon central Abbotsford on Monday afternoon after an Abbotsford Police Department cruiser was involved in a collision.
Sgt. Paul Walker said the incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of South Fraser Way and Bourquin Crescent East.
“The officer observed a vehicle heading northbound on Bourquin Crescent East approaching the intersection at a speed that indicated it was unlikely to stop for the posted stop sign,” said Walker.
The two vehicles collided, and multiple other police officers responded to the scene shortly afterward.
“Fortunately, both the officer and the driver sustained only minor injuries,” said Walker.
“Information circulating on social media suggesting this incident was the result of a police pursuit is incorrect.”
He explained that the driver of the other vehicle is cooperating with the police.
