A drug lab was dismantled in Abbotsford last week and a “large cache” of illegal weapons was seized by police.
According to a news release from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC), the unit’s illegal firearms enforcmment team executed a search warrant in the Bradner Road area on Thursday (May 21) and discovered the weapons and clandestine drug lab as part of the search.
The Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR), and the Abbotsford Police Department assisted CFSEU with the warrant, which was part of an ongoing drug and firearms investigation.
CFSEU said the execution of the search warrant required a coordinated and strategic approach to ensure safety.
“We understand that operations of this nature can be concerning for residents and disruptive to the surrounding community. Our priority throughout this investigation has been public safety,”v CFSEU-BC media relations officer Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha said in a news release.
“The discovery and dismantling of a clandestine drug lab helps reduce the risks these dangerous operations pose to neighbourhoods, including exposure to hazardous substances, violence, and organized criminal activity. ”
