Time is running out to grab a Slurpee downtown Chilliwack.
The 7-Eleven location at Yale Road and Williams Street is one of 645 stores set to close across North America soon. It’s one of three Chilliwack locations, and it’s set to close by May 25.
The convenience store was originally across the street, directly to the east. In 2014, that location closed and moved to its current spot.
There are still two locations locally, one at 7385 Vedder Road and a small outlet inside an Esso station at 7680 Amber Drive.
News media outlets across B.C. have been reporting on impending closures in their communities, based on notices in windows at the stores. There is no official list on the 7-Eleven website, but multiple news organizations have reported that the parent company, Seven & i Holdings Co., released information about impending closures in its earnings filings this April.
Cities with stores reported to be closing include New Westminster, West Vancouver, Kamloops and Prince George.
7-Eleven has been operating in Canada since 1969 and the website states there are currently 550+ locations across B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
