Child injured in fall from window in Maple Ridge

A three-year-old boy fell from the second storey window of a Maple Ridge townhouse on Monday, May 18, and was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

BC Emergency Health Services reports getting the call at 2:22 p.m., for a person in need of medical assistance in the 11700 block of 236 Street.

“An ambulance with primary care paramedics, an ambulance with advanced care paramedics, a paramedic supervisor and an air ambulance with critical care paramedics responded,” said BCEHS paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital in serious condition,” he added.

Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue Chief Dave Samson said crews set up a helicopter landing zone at Alexander Robinson Elementary. He reported the boy was conscious and crying, and taken to Children’s Hospital in the helicopter.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and with the young boy,” said Samson.
