Special weather statement for snow accumulation on 3 B.C. Interior highways extended

The special weather statement due to accumulating snow remains in effect for three B.C. Interior highways on Saturday, May 16.

Environment Canada extended the statement on Saturday morning for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt, Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton, and the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Peachland.

“Falling snow levels in combination with upper level instability and moisture will bring the possibility of snowfall accumulations to Allison Pass and the Pennask and Coquihalla Summits through this long weekend,” stated Environment Canada.

With many people possibly travelling for the long weekend, Environment Canada tells motorists to adjust to road conditions and allow for extra travel time.

“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”
