A 24-year-old woman was found dead in Walnut Grove on Saturday, May 9, and police say homicide investigators consider it suspicious.
At about 2:44 p.m. that day, the Langley RCMP were alerted to the death in the 20800-block of 87 Avenue, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
Officers from Langley RCMP and the BC Emergency Health Services were dispatched and found the woman already dead. The death was deemed suspicious and the integrated team was called in to take over the investigation.
At the scene, a 29-year-old man was arrested by Langley RCMP at the time “based on initial observations at the scene,” according to Sgt. Freda Fong, media relations officer with IHIT. He was later released without charge.
The woman and man were in a relationship, and IHIT investigators are looking into whether there is a criminal element to the death.
“While this investigation is in its preliminary stages, investigators believe this was an isolated incident,” said Fong. “We are working to establish a timeline and the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death. IHIT would like to offer our condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the woman.”
