2 men killed in overnight Surrey shooting

Homicide investigators are on scene in Surrey after two men were shot and killed in an underground parking lot Sunday night in Newton.

Just after 10 p.m. Sunday (May 10), Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers responded to calls of a shooting in an underground parking lot in the 7000-block of 133B Street, where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical assistance until BC Emergency Health Services paramedics arrived, but despite life-saving efforts by police and paramedics, the men were both pronounced dead at the scene, an SPS release said.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has since taken over conduct the investigation.

A car was found shortly after the shooting near 144 Street and 84 Avenue, a freelance photographer noted, adding it caused damage to a nearby garage.

No arrests have been made, and at this early stage there is no suspect information to share, SPS said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
