A wildfire that sparked on May 9 in Chasm Provincial Park, north of Clinton, has grown to 37.5 hectares.
The blaze is burning out of control and is anticipated to spread beyond the current perimeter, according to BC Wildfire.
There are 28 personnel on site, working to establish a guard around the perimeter of the wildfire.
“Helicopters are supporting operations as required and dropping water on the fire,” stated BC Wildfire.
While the blaze is visible from nearby communities and Highway 97, there is no threat to the highway. There are also no current area restrictions near this incident.
This wildfire is believed to be lightning-caused.
BC Wildfire asks motorists not to stop along Highway 97 in the area and to drive with caution.
