A 49-year-old man has died after succumbing to injuries sustained in an alleged stabbing in Vancouver overnight on Wednesday, May 6.
Vancouver Police responded to a report of a stabbing near East Hastings and Columbia Street around 2:32 a.m. after a witness called 9-1-1.
“The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died,” noted a Vancouver Police news release Wednesday (May 6).
Police identified the victim as James Andrew Slater. This is Vancouver’s fourth homicide of 2026. Police arrested a man and a woman in connection with the incident, but no charges have been laid as of 3 p.m. Wednesday.
