Police are looking into an alleged assault of a child in Maple Ridge after a video was posted to social media showing a man dragging a child from a local river.
Maple Ridge RCMP said they are aware of the video circulating online and appreciate the public’s concern about the matter.
Officers responded to a report of an alleged assault involving a child at around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, on the Alouette River in the area of 227 Street and 128 Avenue.
RCMP said they spoke to a number of individuals on scene, including the child’s family.
“The investigation is ongoing. Officers have also been in contact with the Ministry of Children and Family Development,” the RCMP said online.
