No risk to public from double homicide case in South Langley, police say

Homicide investigators said the deaths of two people in a South Langley rural property appear to pose no additional risk to the public.

An Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) update on the investigation into the Monday, April 27, discovery of two deceased individuals in a residence in the 21000 block of 16 Ave. said IHIT continues to work in close partnership with the Langley RCMP, Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Services.

A statement released by IHIT Const. Pratheep Thavarajah said the scene was contained to a residence and the victims’ names were not being released at this time as identification and family notifications were still underway.

“While the investigation is in its early stages, homicide investigators believe there is no ongoing risk to public safety and are still gathering evidence and establishing a timeline of events,” the statement said.

“We are liaising with our policing partners to canvass for CCTV, collect evidence, conduct interviews, and advance this investigation” says Constable of IHIT. “Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
