Drivers will lose overnight access to busy Abbotsford off-ramp

Gaining access to Highway 11 will soon require a bit more time for drivers taking Highway 1 through the Fraser Valley.

The provincial government recently announced two rounds of overnight closures for the off-ramp in this part of Abbotsford, forcing commuters to take detours at other nearby interchanges.

The construction taking place in this area will force the closure of the off-ramp that westbound Highway 1 drivers use to access Highway 11.

From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., this off-ramp will be unavailable to the public, with drivers directed to use the McCallum Road interchange instead. During this time, the speed limit on Highway 11 will also be reduced to 50 km/h.

The first round of closures takes place from April 24 to 29, with a second round scheduled from May 4 to 13.

This work is part of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program, which recently began Phase 3B and involves widening large sections of the Trans-Canada Highway.
