Man wanted for Calgary murder arrested in Abbotsford

A man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder in Calgary has been arrested in Abbotsford.

A press release on Wednesday (April 22) from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) said the man was arrested on Tuesday at 12:50 p.m.

The release said the suspect – whose name has not been released – had previously evaded arrest and was preparing to leave the Lower Mainland. Officers then conducted a “high-risk takedown.”

“Despite his unsuccessful attempt to flee, officers were able to safely bring him into custody. No one was injured during the arrest,” police said.

The man has now been transferred into the custody of the Calgary Police Service. No further details were released, including where in Abbotsford the arrest occurred.

The arrest was led by the CFSEU’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team, with support from surveillance resources and police dog services.
