Pitt Meadow RCMP have officially opened their new facility to the public.
The announcement was made on April 15.
Front counter police services, which until now were being temporarily provided at the community policing office behind city hall, have been transferred to the main detachment at 12486 Harris Road.
“We are honoured (to) enter this new chapter of policing for the City of Pitt Meadows and the Katzie First Nation,” said Staff Sergeant Michelle Luca, Pitt Meadows RCMP detachment commander.
“We are looking forward to providing tailored policing services from our new facility that has been built to accommodate the current and future needs of the RCMP and the communities,” added Luca.
The City of Pitt Meadows officially de-integrated from the shared detachment policing model with the City of Maple Ridge on April 1.
Since then Pitt Meadows RCMP has been operating autonomously, policing the community and residents of Pitt Meadows.
“We are excited to tailor policing services to the community needs to ensure happy, healthy and safe communities,” said Luca in an online video.
