Ridge Meadows Minor Baseball starts 71st season with opening day event

Ridge Meadows Minor Baseball hosted its annual Opening Day event on Saturday, April 11 at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park, and recognized award winners from the 2025 season.

It’s now the largest minor baseball association in British Columbia, with more than 80 teams, and over 1,000 athletes.

The association is starting its 71st season, and players, coaches, organizers and parents got a chance to reunite at the ball diamond.

It was also a day to honour the 2025 award recipients:

Coach of the Year: Mark Shaw

Manager of the Year: Dara Clayton

Volunteer of the Year: Nikki Lunoch

Scorekeeper of the Year: Erin Misceo

Field Crew of the Year: Dave Roberts

Umpire of the Year: Adrien Cooke

Lifetime Achievement Award: Ron Tuck

Player awards were won by:

Player of the Year: Kieran Walker Kemp

Most Improved Player: Sam Poole

Rookie of the Year: Wyatt Mosdell

Hitter of the Year: Cayden Shannon

Catcher of the Year: Connor Brisbin

Sportsmanship Award: Brockton Griffin

Pitcher of the Year: Cole Nesbitt

Leadership Award: Max Lochhead

Fan Favourite: Rylan Bailey

”Opening Day is one of our favourite traditions – a day where returning families reunite, new players begin their journey, and our fields come alive once again with energy, excitement, and the love of the game,” said the association in an online post.
