Maple Ridge environmental group looking for board members

Alouette River Management Society is looking for those passionate about rivers and environmental stewardship to join their board of directors.

Board members help guide the organization’s work in river restoration, environmental education and habitat stewardship throughout the Alouette watershed.

They also play an important role in shaping the future of ARMS while supporting programs that protect and enhance local rivers and ecosystems.

“We welcome individuals with a variety of skills, experiences, and perspectives who share a commitment to community, conservation, and collaboration,” said Sophie Sparrow, communications and engagement manager with the environmental group.

The board will be voted on at the organization’s upcoming Annual General Meeting, where the public are invited to hear about the past year’s achievements of ARMS, discuss future initiatives, and connect with individuals passionate about environmental conservation in the local watershed.

A special presentation from Silver Creek Wildlife Rescue, will feature an engaging talk about beavers, nature’s ecosystem engineers. Attendees will learn how these remarkable animals shape landscapes, support biodiversity, and contribute to healthy watershed ecosystems, said Sparrow.

Members must be in good standing to vote at the AGM. Membership renewal must take place by Monday, March 30.

The AGM takes place on Monday, April 27, at the Maple Ridge Public Library, 22470 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:15 p.m.
