BC Rugby PRCs heading to Abbotsford this summer

The 2026 BC Rugby Provincial Regional Championships are coming to Abbotsford.

BC Rugby announced that the event, which showcases some of the province’s top young rugby talent, will run out of Abbotsford Exhibition Park on July 4 and 5.

The 2026 PRCs will feature U15 and U17 boys and girls matches across two fields on-site, while all U19 matches emanate out of Rotary Stadium.

The PRCs trophy will be up for grabs to crown the most successful overall region for the weekend. The Vancouver Rugby Union were the inaugural champions last year. The trophy is awarded through a points system based on where each region finishes in the respective divisions.

According to organizers, the purpose of the event is to foster the growth of competitive rugby throughout the province while also serving as the selection process for representative teams. The PRCs aim to provide stage appropriate competition to motivate, challenge and inspire young players, as well as coaches and officials.

BC Bears coaches will also be present at the event as they finalize selections for the upcoming 2026 BC Bears season. The BC Bears are representative teams for BC Rugby across all levels and compete around the globe. Players from the PRCs will likely be chosen for BC Bears roster spots in 2026.

Abbotsford players will be represented at the event by members of the Fraser Valley Rugby Union Venom.

This marks the first time this decade that Abbotsford has hosted the event, as 2025 was in Shawnigan Lake and 2022 to 2024 was in Vancouver.

The event also traditionally features a coaching clinic, merchandise on-site and concessions. The PRCs are also usually live-streamed on YouTube.
