A Maple Ridge author is holding a book signing in Burnaby’s The City of Lougheed Shopping Centre.
Leanne Van Dongen is known for her juvenile fiction and young adult horror series of books.
Her first series called “Showtime” features three books: “Kate the Great,” “The Trio,” and “Stage Fright.”
The books are targeted for 9-12 year olds and are about performances, friendships, and overcoming obstacles, explained Van Dongen.
Van Dongen started writing the first book in the series “Kate the Great” when she was only 12-years-old. It was published when she was 15 in 2017.
The book is about a girl who wants to take part in a talent show at her middle school. But instead of being fun, it turns into a competition with her rival Abby whom Kate is determined to beat.
Van Dongen will also be at the book signing with her two latest books “Death Life,” and the sequel “Death Game”, released in 2025.
These two books are part of Van Dongen’s young adult horror series.
The first story revolves around three friends who are facing a series of physical and psychological torture by a ghost, she explained.
The second book tells the tale of a deadly game, involving complicated rules, and a time frame. Losing could result in multiple fatalities, noted the author.
Van Dongen will be at Coles book store in the mall from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at 9855 Austin Rd, Burnaby.
“I look forward to seeing anyone who would like to come by,” said Van Dongen.
