McMann nets 2 as visiting Seattle Kraken roll past Canucks 5-2

Bobby McMann scored twice, leading the visiting Seattle Kraken to a 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks in NHL action Saturday at Rogers Arena.

Matty Beniers added a goal and two assists for the winners (30-26-9), who snapped a four-game losing skid. Jared McCann and Jamie Oleksiak also scored for the Kraken, with Jordan Eberle adding three helpers. Philipp Grubauer made 32 saves to earn the win in goal.

Evander Kane and Marco Rossi scored for Vancouver (20-38-8). Netminder Nikita Tolopilo took the loss, stopping 28 of 33 saves.

Seattle opened the scoring 4:12 into the first period, when ex-Canuck McCann broke a 10-game goalless drought with his 17th of the season. McCann, in the slot, took a pass from behind the net from Brandon Montour and his shot eluded Tolopilo.

Vancouver pulled even at 11:42 when Kane cruised in on a breakaway and beat Grubauer with a nifty deke and high backhand to make it 1-1. Kane now has 12 goals for the year.

The Kraken regained the lead at 19:10, when McMann’s pass for Shane Wright in front of Tolopilo found its way into the net for a power-play marker. McMann’s goal was his 20th of the season, the second straight year he has reached that milestone.

Shots on goal after one period favoured the Canucks, 15-10.

Oleksiak had the lone goal of the middle frame, taking a return pass from Beniers and moving in to fire a shot past Tolopilo at 5:06. The towering Seattle blue-liner now has four goals in 2025-26.

Vancouver held a 26-21 shots advantage after 40 minutes.

McMann added his second of the game at 4:14 of the third period, tapping in a nifty pass from Eberle.

Beniers extended the lead to 5-1 at 9:58, taking a pass from Eberle and slotting home his 18th of the season.

Rossi completed the scoring at 19:40, firing home a loose puck to the left of Grubauer for his eighth goal of the year.

The Canucks continue their eight-game homestand on Tuesday when they host the Florida Panthers (7 p.m.).

NOTES: McMann was playing his first game with the Kraken since being acquired in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs… Vancouver’s Drew O’Connor assisted on Kane’s goal and earned his 100th career NHL point… The Kraken were 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Canucks failed to score on their two chances.
