The bounce back season of Abbotsford Canucks goalie Ty Young continued on Wednesday (March 11) as he made 22 saves to backstop his team to a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose.
The 2022 fifth round pick has now won his last three starts and has allowed just three goals in those starts.
It’s a huge turnaround from earlier this season, which saw Young lose his first seven starts and get reassigned to the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings in December. He told media after Saturday’s (March 7) shutout win over the Colorado Eagles that his confidence has returned since rejoining Abbotsford.

That confidence was on display on Wednesday, as Young stopped every shot he faced in the first period and got some offensive support through goals by Nils Aman (14:26) and Danila Klimovich (16:08). The Canucks led 2-0 after one, with the Moose having the 11-8 shots edge.

Manitoba beat Young at 8:08 of the second when Mason Shaw connected on the power play and the Moose controlled the period with an 8-4 shots advantage.
The Canucks punched back in the third, with Klimovich scoring again at 12:39 and defenceman Jimmy Schuldt adding an empty net goal at 18:22. Klimovich is another emerging story for Abbotsford, as he now has 12 goals to sit one off the team lead. He has been red hot in March, with six points in five games. He also recorded a team-high five shots on Wednesday.

Arshdeep Bains, Cole Clayton and Aman all finished at a +2. Reported attendance on Wednesday was 3,679.
The win comes off a 4-0 shutout win by the Moose on Tuesday (March 10).
Manitoba goalie Thomas Milic was the story on Tuesday, as he made 30 saves to blank the Canucks. Milic came up big in the first and second periods, as the Canucks out shot the Moose 23-10 but were unable to beat the Coquitlam product.

Abbotsford out shot Manitoba 30-19 in the loss, with Canucks goalie Jiri Patera dropping his second straight game and his third in four games. Ty Mueller recorded a team-high five shots in a losing cause. Reported attendance on Tuesday was 3,117.
The Canucks remain home for the weekend and next host the Henderson Silver Knights on Saturday (March 14) and Sunday (March 15). Saturday’s game has a puck drop of 7 p.m., while Sunday’s begins at 4 p.m. Both games will be celebrating St. Paddy’s Day.
