A 91 year old is in serious condition after they were hit by a vehicle while riding their mobility scooter in Maple Ridge.
First responders raced to the scene at around 3 p.m. on Monday, March 9, at the intersection of 119 Avenue and 228 Street.
Hours later a mobility scooter sporting a Canadian flag could still be seen upright in front of a Hyundai Santa Fe, with debris on the ground.
The elderly pedestrian was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
Ridge Meadows RCMP have closed the intersection to traffic and are on scene investigating with help from the Investigative Support Team, and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and spoke with police.
Traffic is being re-routed and police are asking others to avoid the area.
Police say no further information will be released at this time.
