Man charged for 2022 Okanagan double homicide

A 36-year-old man has been charged in relation to a 2022 double homicide in the Penticton area, the RCMP said Saturday, Mar. 7.

The BC Prosecution Service has approved two counts of first-degree murder Yves “Oliver” Grenier in connection with the deaths of Douglas Barker and Alannah Brown.

The E-Division District Major Crime Unit laid the charges, which were sworn in Friday, March 6.

Grenier has since been arrested and remains in custody.

The investigation began in September 2022 after police were called to the Penticton area for a report of two deceased individuals.

Since that time, Major Crime investigators have continued to advance the file through evidence collection, witness interviews, and forensic analysis.

In July 2025, the Prosecution Service charged three individuals in connection with these homicides. One other person was charged in November 2025.

“This was an extensive and complex investigation,” said BC RCMP Supt. Sanjaya Wijayakoon. “We have now charged and made our final anticipated arrest for this investigation. Our thoughts remain with the families of Mr. Barker and Ms. Brown, and we hope that today’s charges provide some measure of progress as the matter proceeds before the courts.”

As the case is now before the courts, the RCMP said no further information will be released at this time.
