A powerful movement of collaboration and community is thriving in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge.
Women in Business – Pitt Meadows & Maple Ridge is a free networking group dedicated to supporting local female entrepreneurs through authentic relationships, referrals, and real friendship.
“Women in Business is about more than networking,” explained mortgage broker Cheri Hamm, who co-organizes the group with photographer Ariane Jaschke, owner of Capture Photography Studio in Osprey Village.
“It’s about creating a trusted circle where women feel supported both professionally and personally. When women collaborate, entire communities benefit,” noted Hamm.
Women in this group must live in or have their business in Pitt Meadows and/or Maple Ridge.
The group was founded on the belief that business grows stronger through connection—not competition – and provides a welcoming space for women to share ideas, exchange resources, and champion one another’s success.
It is all about getting to know your neighbour and then promoting her to everyone else, said Hamm.
From established professionals to emerging entrepreneurs, members are united by a shared commitment to lifting each other up while building sustainable, thriving businesses in the community.
Beyond business networking, Hamm and Jaschke and many of the women from the Women in Business group play an integral role in supporting the annual Illuminate Gala, a signature community event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for local mental health initiatives, that was held in November.
The Illuminate Gala brings together business leaders, families, and community members for an inspiring evening focused on hope, connection, and meaningful impact.
Proceeds from the event directly support mental health programs within the Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge communities, helping ensure individuals and families have access to the care and resources they need.
“Our goal is to create ripple effects,” said Jaschke. “When women support each other in business and come together to support causes like mental health, we strengthen the entire community.”
Members of Women in Business are deeply involved in the success of the gala—through sponsorships, volunteerism, promotion, and leadership—demonstrating the group’s commitment not only to business growth, but to community well-being.
Women in Business – Pitt Meadows & Maple Ridge continues to welcome local women who value collaboration, connection, and community impact.
“By combining friendship with professional support, the group continues to empower women while making a meaningful difference beyond business,” said Hamm.
