LETTER: Human rights attack ‘shameful’

Dear Editor,

Disappointed in Maple Ridge MLA’s vote to repeal Human Rights Code.

It seems human rights are under siege everywhere, including south of the border.

I never thought I would see it become mainstream here in British Columbia.

The Human Rights Code protects women, people with disabilities, and people of colour from discrimination and 37 BC MLAs voted to repeal it.

It is worrying to see Trump style politics becoming more popular with Conservative MLAs.

Maple Ridge East’s Conservative MLA Lawrence Mok’s vote to repeal the Human Rights Code is shameful, and I think he owes his constituents an apology.
