Flames start run at a third straight Stonehouse Cup championshp

The Ridge Meadows Flames got their first playoff win, and host game two of their best-of-seven series against Port Coquitlam on Friday night, Feb. 27.

The Flames will meet the Trailblazers at 7:30 p.m. at Cam Neely Arena in the Pacific Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The Flames started their pursuit of a third straight Stonehouse Cup championship with a 4-0 win on Tuesday night. Goaltender Matthew Candusso notched a 34-save shutout.

Team Captain Zack Lagrange was in on every goal, with a four-point night on a goal and three assists.

Former Trailblazer, and Flames top scorer, Matthew Biros had two goals and an assist against his old teammates.

PJHL rookie scoring leader Manny Sandhu had two assists.

Powerplay quarterback and offensive defenceman Erik Sollied had a goal and an assist.

Games three and four are March 1 and March 3 in Poco. The Flames finished second in the conference with a record of 35-14, while the Trailblazers were seventh at 15-31-3.

In other game one action from around the Tom Shaw Conference, the first-place Richmond Sockeyes beat the Burnaby Steelers 3-0, Delta Ice Hawks beat Coastal Tsunami 4-0, and the Langley Trappers upset the third-seeded Chilliwack Jets 5-1 in their opener.
