2 full-scholarships available to independent school in Maple Ridge

An opportunity is available for two students heading into Grade 9 to receive a full-tuition scholarship to Meadowridge School.

The school is now accepting applications for their Head of School Bursary, which will provide two well-rounded Grade 9 students, who wouldn’t otherwise have the financial means, an opportunity to have an independent, International Baccalaureate, (IB), World School education.

The Head of School Bursary is awarded to a student entering Grade 9 and provides full tuition coverage for all four years of high school at Meadowridge School, from Grade 9 through Grade 12, explained head of school Scott Banack.

It recognizes students who exhibit academic excellence, strong character, and a commitment to contributing to the Meadowridge community.

“We are looking for highly motivated students who want to make a positive difference in our community,” he noted, saying that students who succeed in receiving the bursary should be ready to work hard, learn deeply, and engage fully in school life—through clubs, fine arts, athletics, service, and many other opportunities.

“That help them grow as learners and leaders,” added Banack.

Meadowridge School is an independent IB World School serving students from junior kindergarten to Grade 12.

The bursaries will be awarded on both financial need and merit.

Only annual tuition is covered by the bursary. Application fees, program fees, uniforms, cafeteria, and transportation costs remain the responsibility of the recipient.

Eligible applicants are new students entering Grade 9 who reside in British Columbia.

Interested families must complete the standard Meadowridge admissions process and inform the admissions team of their intent to apply for the bursary.

Applicants must attend a Grade 9 assessment day.

They also have to submit a written piece or video essay describing who they are and what they hope to gain from attending Meadowridge. They must provide references and participate in an interview with the head of school.

Families must also apply for financial assistance through Meadowridge’s Financial Assistance portal, where a previous tax assessment will be required.

“With a strong commitment to Environmental Regeneration, our rigorous academic program is highly respected by universities around the world,” said Banack.

“Students discover their passions through our comprehensive co-curricular program that includes a wide range of clubs, activities, athletics, fine and performing arts, international travel, authentic leadership opportunities, and meaningful service experiences,” he added.
